Surname Arrivals to America
It's exciting when you trace an ancestor's surname back to it's arrival in the United States.
This is a main goal for all of the Main Eight names, as well as some of the secondary names.
Of the Main Eight, I have traced five to their arrival in America:
On Dad's Side: Cortelli -- about 1900 in Boston
Lodi -- 1906 in Boston
On Mom's Side: Christian -- 1750's
Griffin -- about 1635
Law -- about 1656
(Cortelli and Lodi were easy, actually; they've only been in the United States a
little over 100 years, and Aunt Eva provided the majority of that information)
Of the secondary names, I have traced four to their arrival in America:
On Dad's Side: Gaylord -- 1630
Root -- about 1637
On Mom's Side: Tuttle -- 1635
(Again, Gaylord was not as difficult as others because of
the information in Aunt Nonie's Letters and Notes)
I hope to find more information on those names I haven't yet traced back to Arrival.
